Our Invitation

The CARFF does not work alone. We collaborate with Christian Aid and its extensive local partner networks, philanthropists and foundations seeking deeper impact, impact‑aligned investors and co‑investors, and enterprises committed to resilience and inclusion.
Christian Aid brings decades of experience in climate adaptation and social justice; trusted relationships with communities and local organisations; deep contextual knowledge and safeguarding standards.
The CARFF brings investment structuring, capital mobilisation, portfolio management and long‑term financial stewardship. Together, this creates a rare and powerful combination.
Philanthropists
CARFF is designed for philanthropists who want their giving to do more than respond to need. It is for those who want to shape systems, strengthen resilience, and create change that outlasts individual programmes.
Traditional grant-making remains vital, but on its own it struggles to reach scale or durability in climate-vulnerable contexts. CARFF offers philanthropists a different pathway: one where gifts are deployed strategically, used to absorb risk, and recycled to generate impact over time.
Through CARFF, philanthropic capital:
-
Unlocks opportunities that markets will not reach alone
-
Supports early-stage and high-impact enterprises
-
Enables long-term accompaniment, not short-term intervention
This is philanthropy that builds assets, not dependencies, and which treats generosity as a form of stewardship.

Trusts and Foundations
Many trusts and foundations face a familiar tension: rising demand, finite resources, and growing pressure to demonstrate long-term outcomes. CARFF offers a way to extend the life and reach of philanthropic capital without abandoning mission or values.
By partnering with CARFF, trusts and foundations can:
-
Deploy capital through recyclable and blended finance mechanisms
-
Align grant-making with longer-term investment approaches
-
Participate in a diversified portfolio rather than isolated projects
-
Benefit from Christian Aid’s deep programme expertise alongside investment discipline
CARFF is not a replacement for grant funding. It is a complement, designed for foundations seeking greater durability, learning, and leverage in their climate and economic justice work.
Permanent Endowment
The Christian Aid Resilient Futures Fund is designed to be permanent. Gifts to CARFF are invested, stewarded, and reinvested, allowing philanthropic capital to remain active and productive over time.
Through permanent endowment and legacy giving, supporters can:
-
Establish an evergreen pool of capital, where gifts are invested rather than spent, and returns are recycled to generate impact year after year.
-
Direct 100 percent of endowment gifts into climate-resilient enterprises, ensuring capital remains focused on adaptation, resilience, and inclusive livelihoods.
-
Create a named or designated endowment, honouring family members, communities, or causes of lasting personal significance.
-
Support intergenerational impact, with capital continuing to serve climate-vulnerable communities long after the original gift is made.
-
Receive annual reporting detailing the tangible outcomes generated by the endowed capital, including enterprises supported, jobs created, and resilience strengthened.
A gift to CARFF is not simply a donation. It is a deliberate act of stewardship, choosing to leave behind resilience as a legacy.

For Strategic and Institutional Partners
CARFF also works with institutions, corporates, and development actors seeking credible, long-term approaches to climate resilience and inclusive growth.
Partnerships may include:
-
Co-investment and capital alignment
-
Technical assistance and enterprise support
-
Learning, evidence generation, and policy engagement
CARFF’s strength lies in its ability to sit between worlds: philanthropy and investment, community and capital, conviction and competence.
Impact-only Investors
CARFF is structured for investors who understand that financial return is not the sole measure of value, but who nevertheless expect clarity, rigour, and discipline.
Investors engage with CARFF not because it promises financial returns, but because it offers:
-
A credible blended finance structure
-
Access to high-impact, under-served contexts
-
Professional portfolio construction and risk management
-
Transparent impact measurement aligned with investment practice
This is not extractive capital. It is capital aligned with long-term resilience, inclusive growth, and lasting value creation.

For Communities and Entrepreneurs
CARFF exists to support communities and entrepreneurs who are developing practical, locally rooted responses to climate risk but are poorly served by conventional finance. We work particularly with climate-focused small and medium-sized enterprises that:
-
Sit in the “missing middle”, too large for microfinance yet too small or perceived as too risky for traditional banks.
-
Deliver essential adaptation and resilience solutions, including renewable energy, climate-smart agriculture, water and sanitation, micro-insurance, and related technologies.
-
Are embedded in local economies and communities, with strong potential for sustainable growth and replication.
CARFF supports enterprises through:
-
Affordable and patient finance, structured to reflect real operating conditions rather than idealised market assumptions.
-
Technical assistance and business support, recognising that capital alone is rarely sufficient to unlock long-term resilience.
-
A longer-term partnership approach, accompanying enterprises through early growth, climate shocks, and periods of uncertainty.
If you run, support, or are connected to an enterprise delivering locally led climate solutions, CARFF exists to help turn resilience into something durable.
